Primarily Primates is a station which endeavours to teach the public about man’s closest relatives--Monkeys, apes and prosimians. From the tiny 100g pygmy marmoset to the massive 200kg silverback mountain gorilla, we explore issues such as primate evolution, diet, behaviour, habitat and threats to their survival. We want the public to have a hands-on experience here at PP. Besides the primate artefacts (such as skulls and fur) we have on display for visitors to handle, visitors will also learn how chimpanzees use tools to get their meals or how an orang utan prevents itself from getting wet during a heavy tropical down pour.
We at PP strive to spread awareness about the danger our primate friends (the pet trade, bush meat etc ) and their habitats (deforestation) are facing each day, in hope that this will help them make more informed choices that could change the otherwise sad fate of these primates.
